Our Place

Sustainability & Community

For us being ‘off grid’ doesn’t mean being isolated from the world. It is to think outside the individualistic ego based idea of success, and to prioritize sustainability for the community as a whole and give back to the land. The challenge comes with running a business that aligns with this mindset in a world where the overexploitation of resources and people has become normalized. We do our best to do our part.

Our Environment

Environmental Protection

We care about the natural world–plants, soil, air, water, birds, bugs, and all creatures. Growth and urbanization can bring deforestation and pollution without proper resource management. Therefore, we put care into creating a pleasant, clean, and functional space with the least possible environmental impact and the most possible contribution to the natural world.

Eco-Chic Stays

Community & Social Equity

Our commitment extends to our team behind the scenes at Casa Chango. Our staff receives fair pay plus benefits including health insurance, annual bonuses, paid time off, annual salary increases, classes and use of Casa Chango amenities.  Together, our team and retreat guests create a warm, kind, and comfortable ‘vibe’ for everyone.

We work to build community by hosting events, performances, workshops, and weekly classes in Casa Chango’s beautiful open air practice space – offering sliding scale prices for our local community.

Supporting the Local Community

We support local businesses, artisans and craftspeople; from kitchen ingredients to décor, we seek to minimize the impact of gentrification.  Although it can appear glamorous to be entirely self-sufficient, we must rely on one another so that everyone can thrive.

In the future, we hope to grow by ….

  • Growing our public programming in education, arts, and food programs.
  • Creating more partnerships with local businesses, artists, and crafts people.
  • Lowering our global impact by offering more plant based protein less meat, minimizing plastic, and seeking innovation for more alternatives to chemicals.
  • Developing and contributing aid to people, animals, and nature who have been impacted globally by climate disaster, government oppression, and organized crime.
